As the designer of foldable wedding invitations with photos in A6 format, I embarked on the following process using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign:
Gathering client requirements: I initiated the project by discussing the clients' preferences regarding the style, color scheme, theme, and specific details of their wedding, such as the date, venue, and time. I also requested them to provide a photo to be used on the invitations.
Planning the composition: Based on the gathered information, I planned the composition of the A6 invitations. I considered the best placement of the photo, text, and other elements on the invitation pages to create an appealing and cohesive design.
Photo selection and editing: If the client provided a photo, I carefully selected it and proceeded with necessary editing. This involved cropping and resizing the photo to fit the A6 format appropriately. Additionally, I made any required color corrections or retouching to ensure the photo was of the highest quality.
Designing in Adobe Illustrator: I utilized Adobe Illustrator to create the initial design of the invitations. I imported the edited photo and positioned it in the desired location on the invitation. Next, I added text elements such as the couple's names, wedding date, venue information, and contact details. I customized fonts, colors, and text sizes to align with the overall design style.
Enhancing the design in Adobe Photoshop: To further enhance the visual appeal, I transferred the design to Adobe Photoshop. Here, I applied additional effects, adjustments, and refined any necessary details. This step ensured that the overall design had a polished and professional look.
Layout and assembly in Adobe InDesign: Moving the project to Adobe InDesign, I worked on creating the layout and assembling the invitation pages. I arranged the design elements, including the photo, text, and any other graphical elements, across multiple pages, ensuring a smooth and cohesive flow.
Fine-tuning and proofing: I meticulously reviewed the design, paying attention to the placement of all elements. I made necessary adjustments, including margin settings, spacing, colors, and contrast, to ensure optimal aesthetics and readability. I also conducted thorough proofreading to eliminate any typographical errors or inconsistencies.
Finalizing the project: Once satisfied with the design, I prepared the files for printing. I ensured that the color mode was appropriate, converted the design to the required file format (e.g., PDF), and made any additional preparations necessary for printing, such as including bleed and crop marks.
Throughout the process, I maintained effective communication with the clients, providing them with updates and incorporating their feedback and revisions.
